Catie Webster

Hi there. I’m Catie.

I ‘m trained as a writer ( B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) and an acupuncturist (M.S. in Chinese Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in 2008). I’ve also got a 200 hour yoga teacher training, and did some life coaching training back when I was 22 (that’s a while ago). I started this blog in January of 2013 to talk about the things I’m interested in: Wellness. Movement. Life. Relationships. Food. I’m still interested in those things, but, more specifically, I’m interested in the choices that we make around those things and our process around those choices.

I don’t believe that there’s a prefab formula for success in life. I believe that we make it up as we go along. I believe that we need a little help (sometimes) and a whole lot of courage (all the time) to make choices that are good for us. We can follow someone else’s path for a while, but inevitably, we have to find our own way.

That means breaking from the system, expressing some idiosyncrasy, and getting more than a little weird.

Arbitrary: adj. – subject to individual will or judgment without restriction; contingent solely upon one’s discretion.

This is what it’s all about - developing enough trust in ourselves to make arbitrary decisions all the time. About how to eat. About how to move. About how to love. About how to live.

Welcome to The Arbitrarium - exploring the power of choice around health, fitness, food, relationships, work… whatever comes up with a weather eye on what’s best for us as individuals and as part of the whole.
